So I don't think I'm doing a good job at work. They told me I could go home at 12, and they didn't tell me to come in tomorrow. uh-oh.
I'd rather be working in the back making flowers.
The fake card lady came in again with a really wrinkly 5 dollar bill and bought a single red rose, I think she just wanted to smell it.
A guy called in from Massachusetts, or some other M state I can't really remember, he talked like such a bro, but anywho, he called to make an order for an plant to send someone in the area, the message was "Ugly Plant Part 2, I love you", inside joke probably, but I thought it was the cutest thing. I like seeing what people buy. Nothing else very exciting happened. I'm starting to like it less, already. I don't think the other people who work there like me very much, I think it's cause I'm shy. Ughhhies. I need a job that doesn't consist of me selling anything. And I hate that the owner/manager lady blames you when business is slow. Like I have any control over who comes in to the store. So I have to find a new job, I don't like this one. I like the idea of working in a flower shop though, just maybe with nice people.

It sucks when things end up being too good to be true. I hope it works out for you, but then again why agonize if you aren't enjoying the job in the first place? (It's still early so give it some time.) If business was slow they might have just told you to go home to save costs, they do that all the time, even at Beggars. But whatever you decide to do, you better keep the blog! Props on the capitalization, and cute stories. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree! Don't let anyone there get you down. Its so hard to be new anywhere, let alone somewhere where you are expected to do something a certain way. I know for me, its only my second week working at my school's gym and every day I go in I am really nervous that I am going to do or say something wrong, and when someone corrects me I feel like they don't think I'm good enough or don't like me... but really they are just trying to teach me how to do it the right way. There is always that period of transition when you are starting something new, and i promise you that if you stick with it you will become more confident and even have fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the story about the Bro, i bet he was from Massachusetts... Keep the posts coming girl!
Listen to your friends. You're just being paranoid so relax. It sounds like a lot of hard work but keep in mind that it's still a job. Try to do your best everyday, and don't be discouraged or intimidated by your managers. They're just trying to keep the business afloat in this weird economy.I hope everything gets better for you and i'm pretty sure that you won't regret to "stop and smell the flowers" =)
